Most gardeners are familiar with the compact pink and white Gumpo Azaleas that
bloom in late May and into June, but there are many more varieties including the
Japanese 'Satsuki' (5th month) hybrids that will bloom into July. As with
all Azaleas, these varieties prefer slightly acid and well-drained soil with protection
from winter winds. Those varieties blooming into summer will flower for
longer periods if given some protection from the hot afternoon sun. This year,
Ambleside expects to carry the following varieties.
